The digital marketing director leads a team that develops and executes a client’s (or clients’) digital marketing plans to enhance and optimize the digital customer journey. This individual’s primary responsibility is to expand the agency’s digital marketing strategic capabilities, including but not limited to organic and paid search, websites, email marketing and data storytelling.

  • Works with internal and client teams to understand client business goals, develop strategic digital marketing plans to enhance and optimize the digital customer journey
  • Knows the client’s target audience(s) and how to best communicate with them. Translates audience strategy and needs into digital opportunities and plans. 
  • Leads the agency’s overall data storytelling efforts related to marketing measurement. This includes creating and managing dashboards to track metrics and analyzing overall performance.
  • Sets strategy and develops plans for organic and paid search, websites, email marketing, marketing automation and CRM-related marketing for clients
  • Defines and measures digital marketing KPIs (search, website, email focus), continuously evaluating performance
  • Uses digital marketing metrics and insights to tell a story about campaign performance and formulate strong recommendations
  • Elevates digital marketing performance by working with content, paid media and social media teams
  • Role breakdown is approximately 50% digital marketing strategy, 30% data storytelling (marketing measurement) and 20% team leadership


  • Bachelor’s degree in digital marketing, communications or a related discipline
  • At least 8 years of professional experience leading multi-channel digital marketing strategies using inbound and outbound programs (B2B or B2C).
  • Prior agency experience is a plus.
  • At least 5 years of experience and demonstrated ability to build teams and develop talent
  • Professional experience in data storytelling, digital marketing measurement and data visualization
  • Experience with funnel mapping, UX standard methodologies, customer journeys, lifecycle campaigns and segmented communications strategies
  • Experience with marketing automation, email service provider platforms, content management systems and project management platforms.
  • Experience with content management systems (CMS) and website management – including website usability (UX/UI) and compliance (GDPR, etc).
